​Monika investigate how the world is perceived and constructed. I ask whether the world we live in is nothing more than a mental construction. With this inquiry I create objects and use a variety of techniques to decipher my own existence and generate situations where I can understand and communicate my emotional state.

She’s work has a sense of magic and wonder conveyed by using industrial materials and technology as a way to examine my physicality and materiality in relation to the mental, emotional, and spiritual field. My work is about decoding with the senses. The more abstract the work gets, the more universal it becomes, thus, opening up a visceral and expansive response. I use symbolism to decode the perception of the world and this approach is influenced by Jungian psychology, Zen and Taoists practices.

Monikan 2011, along with my partner Juan Luque we founded Two leaves editions, a book publishing company specializing in books as object d’art, Monika was commissioned to do the Art direction, design and concept of the first title, Between two worlds with underwater photographs of Ricardo Cisneros and an essay by NY critic Raul Zamudio. Company& Book launch November 2011
