Topophilia (topos "place" and -philia, "love of") is defined as the affective bond with one’s environment - a person’s mental, emotional, and cognitive ties to a place, which often becomes mixed with a sense of cultural identity among certain peoples.
As people and populations are more and more transient in the 21st century, ideas and experiences of culture live in many places and across many borders.
This exhibition profiles some of the most dynamic artists of Chinese descent who operate across Greater China and other parts of the world. Aside from sharing a common ethnic background and itinerant experiences they also share similar artistic sensibilities. Many approach their work conceptually, employ quotidian subjects that relate to their cross-cultural experience or, through their work, reconfigure their cultural heritage and often ambiguous relationship to place.
The exhibition features work by: Chen Chieh-Jen, Heman Chong, Victoria Fu, Rania Ho, Lee Kit, Michael Lin, Arthur Ou, Wu Chien-Ying, Jun Yang, Amy Yao, Patty Chang & David Kelley.

“Topophilia”(源于古语“地域”和“钟爱”)意指对身处环境的情感依附,即一个人在精神、情绪和认知上维系于某地的纽带,亦时常与特定人群之间的文化认同感相杂揉。
